Fissure

Privacy Policy

Fissure is a single-player idle game for Android, published by Ofek Shiffman. This policy describes what the app collects. It is deliberately specific, because Google Play's data-safety declaration must match it.

What Fissure itself collects

Fissure has no servers of ours and no analytics. But starting in version 1.1.0, Fissure signs you into Google Play Games Services automatically when you launch the app, so it can back up your progress and offer a leaderboard and achievements. Play Games Services is run by Google, not by us.

  • Sign-in. Fissure is signed in under a Play Games player ID — a pseudonymous identifier Google issues for you, specific to this game. Fissure never reads it, and does not receive your email address, your real name, or your Google account ID.
  • Saved game data. Your progress (Crew, Gold, Depth, and similar — a few hundred bytes of data) is written to a cloud save. Google stores it on Google's own servers, as part of your Play Games profile, in a private area that belongs to Fissure. No other app can read it.
  • Anti-cheat and device-matching data. The same cloud save also carries a random identifier for this installation of Fissure, plus readings from your device's clock and boot counter. These are used to tell your own devices apart when saves are merged, and to detect a device clock being moved forward to skip waiting time. That installation identifier is generated by the app itself — it is not your Advertising ID and not a hardware identifier — and it goes nowhere except into your own Play Games saved game.
  • Leaderboard. Fissure submits the deepest Depth you've reached to a Play Games leaderboard. If your Play Games profile is public, other players can see that score next to your Play Games gamer tag.
  • Achievements. Which achievements you've unlocked is stored by Google Play Games the same way.

None of this passes through a server of ours — we don't run one, and this app doesn't have one. We still collect no analytics of any kind.

What the advertising SDK collects

Fissure shows optional rewarded video ads — ads you choose to watch in exchange for an in-game benefit. You are never required to watch one to keep playing. These ads are served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC), which is a third party and which collects data through its own SDK inside the app:

  • Device and other identifiers, including your device's Advertising ID, used to select ads and to limit how often the same ad is repeated.
  • Approximate location, derived from your IP address (roughly, country/region level).
  • Device information — model, operating system version, language, screen characteristics.
  • Ad interaction data — which ads were shown, viewed, or clicked, and diagnostics about ad delivery failures.

Google's use of this data is governed by Google's privacy policy and by the Google Advertising Technologies notice.

Your choices about Play Games Services

  • Sign-in is Google's, and you can decline it. If you decline or dismiss the Play Games sign-in prompt, Fissure keeps working exactly as it did in version 1.0 — your progress stays saved only on your device, with no cloud save, no leaderboard entry, and no achievements.
  • You can delete your saved game data. This is done through Google Play Games' own controls, not ours, because Google is the one holding it. In general: open the Play Games app or the Play Store's Play Games profile section, find its data-deletion settings, and either delete Fissure's data specifically or delete your whole Play Games profile (which removes everything Play Games knows about you, not just Fissure). The exact menu wording can change, so use Google's current instructions.
  • Uninstalling the app still deletes the copy of your save stored on your device. It does not by itself delete the cloud copy, because that copy lives in your Google account.

Your choices about advertising

  • Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland). On first launch in a region covered by the GDPR, Fissure shows Google's consent form and asks whether you agree to personalised advertising. If you decline, ads are limited to non-personalised advertising. You can reopen this form at any time from the app's Settings screen and change your answer.
  • Advertising ID. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting it stops it being used to personalise ads.
  • Not watching ads. Every ad in Fissure is optional. Declining them costs you nothing but the optional in-game benefit.

Children

Fissure is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children, is not enrolled in Google Play's Families programme, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us at the address below.

Data retention and deletion

We hold no data about you ourselves — Fissure has no servers of ours. Google holds your Play Games player ID, saved game data, leaderboard entry, and achievement flags under Google's own retention rules, for as long as your Play Games data exists. See the Play Games section above for how to delete it. Data collected by Google's advertising SDK is retained under Google's policies. To remove the app's local save data, uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android Settings.
